What are you doing on race weekend? Want to be of real help to lots of amazing athletes? Here are a few of the areas where your volunteer help would be greatly appreciated--at all UltraSports races.
During the Race:
Aid stations or timing stations along the race route
Work at an aid station to offer runners water, food, ice, and more as they arrive--and other help as needed. Insure that they have crossed timing mats or related equipment. You may choose your location and hours of service from the list on the Volunteer registration page on each race’s website. Positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Note: This is a great way to accrue required school service credits.
You and your friends or organization may also "own" an aid station: Take full responsibility for a site--even decorate it and be creative in support of the runners. Contact Race Director Bob Becker directly to discuss the details. (bob@ultrasportsllc.com)
Finish line support: Greet arriving runners with well-earned applause. Hand out medals and buckles, retrieve their personal "drop bags", prep and offer food and drinks and much more. Join in celebrating accomplishment here!
Signage placement and take-down along the course
Logistics support:
Before the race, load gear and equipment from the warehouse into race trucks
During the race, drive or assist on trucks or vans to set up, resupply and take down aid or timing stations and the finish line.
Check-in and packet pick-up: night before the race, or day of. Set up and take down tables, runner bags, shirts, race numbers and other items.
Distribute race packets; check in participants.
Race start: check-in runners and teams and organize start line corrals.
Post-Race:
Awards party: assist with set up and awards distribution.
Medical:
Provide medical support along the route and especially at the finish line; complement emergency services.
Publicity:
Promote runner participation in the races
Distribute race brochures and posters to appropriate businesses or at races in your area
Assist with social media promotion
Charitable Fundraising:
Promote fundraising for the primary race charity, such as the “Cancer Foundation of the Florida Keys” or “Runners 4 Recovery" in the Jacksonville, FL area.
Sponsors:
Identify potential race sponsors, promoting and helping to grow the race.
Distribute "Sponsorship Prospectus"
Waiver Required: All volunteers, including individual crew members and team drivers must complete volunteer registration online. Go to the Volunteer page on the race website and follow the prompts. Here you will select your preferred volunteer position and time. Jobs will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
